Swine Flu panic

We live in san diego, and are close to the border of mexico. when do we start getting concerned about the swine flu. My oldest daughter is in 4th grade, and everyday we worry. when should we be concerned enough about the swine flu to not send her. i don't want to be the one that has a kid with swine flu, then they close the school. my personal belief is that the government plays down the potential threat of the swine flu. preventing the swine flu in the u.s. should be fairly easy, you would think. why don't we have the drugs in place already.

So far, as much as i can tell, the swine flu is prevented by common sense. Preventing swine flu can be as simple as washing your hands, not shaking hands, and staying home if you're already sick. Swine flu prevention is very important, as we don't want a pandemic
